From the Embassy of Switzerland in the United States of America

Dear Citizens of Switzerland and Liechtenstein, I hope this message finds you safe and healthy.

The past several months dealing with Covid-19 have been long, arduous and isolating. Thanks to the increase in vaccinations and the persistent observation of sanitary measures, we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Additionally, it has been great to cheer on the Swiss National soccer team in the Euro 2020 tournament…Hopp Schwiiz!!

Based on the recent announcement by the Swiss Federal Council, please find below the related updates in regard to COVID-19 for travelers entering Switzerland from the United States.

Effective June 26, 2021, the USA is no longer considered a high-risk country, and therefore, the regular entry conditions apply.

To see what rules apply to your own personal situation when entering Switzerland please consult the online travel check.

Mandatory for all airline passengers traveling from the USA to Switzerland:

Electronic entry form for all incoming travelers (no exceptions)

 Present one of the following medical documents (traveler older than 16 years):

- a COVID-19 vaccination certificate stating that you were fully vaccinated within the last 12 months with an approved vaccine (CDC card accepted)

- a negative COVID-19 PCR test, taken no more than 72 hours (time of specimen collection) before departure

- a positive COVID-19 test result of a test taken within the last 6 months and a COVID-19 recovery medical certificate.

Children under the age of 16 are not required to provide proof of a negative coronavirus test on entering Switzerland. They are exempt from the test requirement on boarding and from the test requirement at the Swiss border.

Travelers arriving in Switzerland from the USA do not have to go into quarantine (FOPH).

For further information, please see the website of the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH or State Secretariat of Migration.

My sincere hope is that we can continue to return to a more normative way of life.
